LOVE.what girl wouldn't love this pink room and the keep calm wall art?Loved this room's color scheme and airiness. Fantastic little vignette. I love old typewriters and the looking glass is so great too.

Miz Manatee's Favorite Room: The Kitchen
I've decided that if I ever buy my own place (ahem...when...WHEN... I buy my own place), the first area I need to decorate and furnish is the kitchen. It doesn't have to be huge, or even that high tech. I'm really loving the look of retro refrigerators, especially those that come in pretty Easter egg pastels. The SMEG fridge [above] is one of my personal faves, as well as the Big Chill fridge [below].
Loving the look of this eat-in kitchen. Tons of light, a touch of color, and a cozy country-retro atmosphere. Such a happy kitchen.

Fanciful Tents
This website that offers amazing outdoor tents. The great thing is that they can be customized exactly the way you want.
This one is so cute, very Mary Poppins-esque. I would love to host a tea party under this tent.
Ok, so the architecture of the building helps, but if you had a balcony you wanted to close in, wouldn't this be pretty?
I love the scallopy edge on this one, and the yellow pops against all the green.
Here is a sampling of the color and fabric options, along with various detailed tent poles and scalloped edging choices.

Lula Magpie's Favorite Room - Library
Whenever I picture my future home, the room that's most clear in my mind is the library. Whether I live in a studio apartment or a house I will most definitely surround myself with books. Here are a couple of my favorites.
I was surprised to find this library was in an English manor home. All the seagrass made me think it was somewhere beachier. The bookcases however, are amazing. The neutral book colors arranged so that the lightest radiate out from the center make the shelves almost like modern art. Here's another one that arranges the books by color. I wouldn't have included the toys, but all the bright colors are playful and fun.The best thing about this room is the indoor/outdoor aspect. While I love a cozy library, a lot of light is also a must, and the ladder is the icing on the cake.
For some reason this library just looks so American to me. I know, weird. I don't love all of the furniture in this room, but the glass doors on the bookshelf are classy, and I adore the giant globe. This room looks casual and cozy to me. I love the couch in the window and the lamp. This is another amazing one, although much too grand to belong in a residence. It's a library in Dublin and looks like it belongs in a Harry Potter book. This is more of a library/office combo. I love the pale palette injected with shots of hot pink. I think the use of objects mixed in with books works really well here.
Oh, books.

Happy Valentine's Day
Rob Ryan's fanciful paper cut-out illustrations and heart-breaking lyricisms will melt even the coldest of hearts (even mine). Happy Valentine's Day to the dreamers.
...And day by day I filled my world with more words
and more dreams
and my heart became a place where I could escape to
and talk to you
(whoever you might turn out to be)
and hold you close
And years from now I will return
and see that wind and rain have washed these words away.
But they stayed in my heart to this day
and I put them in this book that is for you.
and more dreams
and my heart became a place where I could escape to
and talk to you
(whoever you might turn out to be)
and hold you close
And years from now I will return
and see that wind and rain have washed these words away.
But they stayed in my heart to this day
and I put them in this book that is for you.

Is it spring yet?
It's at this time of the year that my spring fever begins to set in. I long to be outside in a garden, which is kind of difficult when you live in an apartment. So to compensate I've been living vicariously through images like this from Vogue:
The white flowers are so fresh and cheery and I love the urn.
I also love this from House and Garden:
The combination of ferns, bulbs and succulents creates a great balance, and the cloche is a great touch. I've been trying to bring spring indoors by adding plants, urns and botanical prints to my living room. Bring on spring!
